Initial days of blogging are little tough, I mean you keep struggling with yourself, about what to post, few people post about their regular activities, few put their views on their blog, or say they keep filling in the spaces in struggle of keeping the blog alive, as blogs are a type of website that looks dead if it is not updated, this is because all the post show the date and time when they were published. But that is the beauty of a blog, it not only publishes your views where everyone can read it, but enable them to comment on it, leading it to become a discussion. This is how you know about other, like, what other people think about it or so.

In the first month of blogging

All you should do is to write on your blog, just keep writing. Let me help you about what to write. Just choose a topic and start writing about it, the topic you choose must interest you, so that you can write about it every single day. Writing a post a day will get you 30 post in a month, that mean s 30 pages will be added in your archive. With this much pages in your archive, you will keep getting visitors to your blog, at least 10 unique visitors a day, or maybe 20. This figure will keep increasing with your Archive of your blog.

Start commenting on others’ blog

Now that you have got enough pages in your blog that you can invite people to visit your blog, at first, you don’t need to ask everyone to come and read your blog, (but you can ask your friends to visit your blog). There is the other way you can make news visitors, search for related blogs; I mean blogs who write something similar you write on your blog. Make a list of blogs and start commenting on the post of these blogs, your comments should be sensible and meaningful. This will make the not only the owner of the blog to visit, but everyone else who reads that blog post, can visit your blog too. Let me tell this with figures, Suppose. You made a list of 10 blogs to comment. 100 people visit each blog. So, your each comment will attract at least 10% of that blog’s visitors. Your comment will stay there forever, resulting in attracting more visitors to your blog.

Start Posting in Forums

Till here, you have got two types of visitors, the Search Engine Traffic and Referred Traffic. You can use few more ways to get visitors to your blog, like searching forums for the same topic as you blog has. Again, make a list of at least 20 such forums, make and account on them and start posting on them too, after you write a post on your blog, you can start a discussion in forums, or, if you have written some reviews on any product, solved a problems, published a tutorial or anything, just search for people who are looking to get that kind of information, post your blog post’s link there and write little bit about it. So that people can visit your blog. If you really gave what they were looking for, they will keep returning to your blog, thinking you might have solved their second query. Gain, you links will be there and people, who are searching for information will keep landing on your blog. Posting in forums helps bloggers in two ways, it gets you’re a lot of visitors, and it get back links. Back links help your blog rank better in search engines, few people even pay money to get many back links, and search engines have got a big complicated equation which is totally a different story, (Will blog about it later).

Using Social Bookmarking Sites for getting Visitors

Social Bookmarking sites is a site where people make accounts and bookmark there favorite pages from different sites, these are not for blogs only, few people bookmark there e favorite games site, favorite products. Just the whole motive of social bookmarking sites is to socializing your bookmarks, so that people can visit your profile and look at your favorites, (This is what I came to realize after using it for more than two years) there are few other definitions, like people put things they are interested in and other people with the same interest can visit it. There are also few Social Bookmarking Sites with dofollow tags, with dofollow tag, blog post links you bookmark are counted as back links, which result in better ranking in search engines. This one is simple too, you need to create accounts in these bookmarking sites, and favorite your blog post links. If your blog post is really hot and interesting, it will get thousands of visitors, There are many more ways to get visitors to your blog, but these fours ways are the most basic and powerful way of getting huge amount of visitors to your blog. Let’s name them again. 1. Search Engine Traffic 2. Referred Traffic 3. Traffic from Forums 4. Social Media Traffic Keep going with all these things on your blog for at least three months. After three months, you can start thinking of monetizing your blog. However, if you are in too much hurry, I’ll suggest you to use Google Adsense to your blog, which just requires visitors to your blogs to click on these ads, there are few people who suggest putting Google Adsense codes right from the beginning. Its totally your with to put these codes into your blog. There are money other ways to monetize your blog, which we will discuss in other post.

If you have not read my about page, let me tell you my story, how I got into money making online. When I came to Delhi in 2006, I used to get a fixed amount of money from home. My monthly was Rs5000 ($125). Delhi was expensive and I was a teenager, so it was next to impossible to get all what you need at this age. The most important thing is that you can’t get a girlfriend with that king of budget (you know, all the food expenses and mobile phone bills). You can never get any luxury with that much money. But sleeping was the only luxury you get free of cost, so I enjoyed it the most. You can’t imagine, I even lived a life where I had to skip one time meal to survive until I get money the next month. This was the time I joined Global Vantedge India (GVI) in September, 2006. My job was to make calls to US, AT&T Account holders and ask for the payment of the past due amount on their accounts. This was not a respectable job but I had to do it, to cover my expenses I am so sick of these girls demanding gifts all the time. But as I started working in GVI, I started living according to the US time zone. My social life went off and I was unacceptable in USA and even in India. I was a guy who had a Fake American Accent and an Indian Face. People of America were not ready to take me as an American whereas my Indian friends started calling me American. After working there for 5 months, I finally quit the job as it was limit of my patience, I had no stamina to live jet lagged life without even traveling anywhere in the world. I didn’t resign from there, I was absconding from there. And I enjoyed the most luxurious and free thing that is sleeping for two months. After that, when I again started getting tight with budget, I started looking for a job, and this time a made it very clear that I am not going to do a call center job. But also no sales or marketing field job. So , I started searching for online job, any kind of, be it data entry, buying selling of any damn thing. I had already tried Adsense back in 2006 but it didn’t work for me. So I just started reading about how to earn money. One day when I was reading an article on a Website, I noticed a paid post above it. there was also a banner that was of smorty. I clicked on it and came to know that it pays to review the advertiser’s products or services. That was the time I came to know about getting paid by writing reviews on your blog. Blogs were not new to me as I started blogging in 2005, but I was not a regular blogger and it wasn’t for money, I just made few pages writing about me and my photos. But this was the time I did a research about blogs and how it is useful in making money. I also searched all other sites similar to smorty. I got many sites like Sponsored Reviews, Pay Per Post, Review Me, Blogvertise. And then I made my 1^st blog 365 dreams a year. It was on a sub domain. I wrote on that blog and submitted it free directories, did everything to popularize it. After one month I got an opportunity to review a products, that was the time I got my first $$ in my PayPal account. At the same time a continued my research about blogs and making money online, as it was the only way to get financial freedom. I made a target that I’ll buy a domain as soon as I get that much in my PayPal. After writing two reviews, I got $9.75 in my account, so I registered a Domain AsioGroups.com and got it hosted on freehostia.com. but I also worked on my 1^st blog. I did the same thing on this blog too and after some time I started writing review on both blog. Being a student, I had plenty of time, so I devoted 8 hours daily to my blog and wrote reviews and popularized my blogs. After just two months, I was making enough money from my blogs. it was very less in comparison to all other big shots, but it added a lot of value to my life. That was the time, when reviews were in craze and there was a lot of money in it. and when the times passed by, I learned other ways of making money, like private ads, providing services, selling eBooks, affiliate marketing. However, I haven’t tried those entire things yet. But will try all of them in near future. During the journey of making money online, I not only made money, but made few quality friends, got so much knowledge from designing to writing, from link building to SEO. As it is said “the process of learning never stops” my research for it will continue, as there is no Permanent method for making money online. In 2006-07 it was reviews, and in 07-08 it was private ads. So, tomorrow it would be something else. Start a blog and start experimenting for a while. You are learning the A, B, and C of blogging. These blogs are free, so there is nothing to lose except the time you put in. You know, I made my 1st $ from a subdomain blog, and then I bought a Domain for my blog, and it ran on free hosting for a few months. After that, I moved it to paid hosting, but I won’t recommend running your blog on free hosting (I will explain you later, don’t worry) Freehostia.com is a hosting service that also provides a plan for free hosting.

Start Now Monetize Later

It’s 2020s and there are a ton of opportunities to make money online. All you have to do is, be patient. Work towards building a hub where people land and spent time, give you attention. Their attention is all you want. Use your free blog to sharpen your skills, learn about grabbing attention of as many eyeballs around a particular area of interest. And then you will find a lot of people giving you money to share your reader’s attention. To give you an example one of my friend started on a free blog, created in a community which was lying around a particular topic. Then he invested $2 to buy a .info domain. Fast forward to 10 years, his website attracts more than 5 million visitors all over the world and he he makes millions of $$. Remember, he started on a free blog.
